ABOUT THIS SITE: This site has been created and maintained by Llandinam Village Hall, but is intended to benefit the whole village. A community like ours is sustained by the interplay of all ages, all interests, all backgrounds and all occupations - a healthy mix of the social, cultural and commercial. A thriving village needs both strong businesses and strong facilities, so we are hoping this site will be of use to you, either as contributor or browser. Let us know of anything you would like us to include. It may be possible to create pages for your organisation, business or project at at little or no cost. Please get in touch.

  • VILLAGE OF THE YEAR SUCCESS!

Llandinam won the People category for Mid Wales in Calor's Village of the Year competition. The other Mid Wales winners were Knighton and Lampeter (neither of whom are really villages!).

"We are enormously pleased that we have won this award. I'm particularly pleased that it was in the most important category of all - people!" said Philip Freeman, vice chair of Llandinam Village Hall, and the co-ordinator of the village's entry.

"As many people know, Llandinam has won the Best Kept Village award a number of times, and through the Davies family have made important contributions to the life of Wales as a whole; but even more important than that for the people who live here is the vitality of the village, and this award recognises that. Unlike the Best Kept Village competition this is judged on the activity within the village, not just its looks.

"While the Village Hall trustees organised the competition entry, our success was down to working together, with school, church, hall, several local businesses - including Broneirion - and the Community Council. They all got involved in making our presentation.

"We have some exciting ideas in the pipeline for 2009, and this award will help us make Llandinam an even better place to live in the future."
